Neck and shoulder pain are quite common. When people are in pain they will seek out any option that might relieve their pain. This makes a lot of sense.

Sadly, most "treatment" options barely work to manage symptoms and do almost nothing to fix the underlying problem.

Prior to opening EBM Fitness Solutions, I worked as an outpatient physical therapist. I used to always get worried whenever a new patient had a diagnosis that involved the neck. Necks are scary.

Or so I thought.

I started to realize that almost all of my patients with neck pain had complete resolution of their symptoms when we did some work on their posture and postural awareness. In most cases, we barely got to the point of adding in exercise when their symptoms were gone.

This could be a shoulder issue, a neck issue or both.

The reason most neck and shoulder rehabs fail is they only focus on the neck and the shoulder. No attention, or not enough attention, is paid to the spine and the position the individual keeps their spine in.

Now, this type of treatment doesn't just work for someone who has some mild neck pain or an irritated shoulder. It works even when nerve compression is involved.

The take-home point is that correcting neck and/or shoulder pain is a multi-step process. No one strategy will fix it. You have to work on it from many angles if you want to resolve, not just manage your pain.

If you are struggling with neck and/or shoulder pain and are tired of not making any progress, grab a copy of the Neck and Shoulder Rehab Guide.

You will learn how to “reset” your posture using Reference Points.
